Getting a tattoo of a tiger

All tattoo artists and tattoo establishments require a license to operate in Florida, designed to protect the public from the risks associated with potentially infectious materials and biomedical waste.

The state of Florida Tattoo Program has been in effect since 2012. The program requires the licensure of tattoo artists and tattoo establishments, and also sets forth educational requirements and the standards of practice for conventional and cosmetic tattoo artists, as well as operational requirements for tattoo establishments, in accordance with sections 381.00771-381.00791, F.S., and Rule 64E-28, Florida Administrative Code.

Escambia County is the regional inspection authority for the following counties within this program: Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton.

For detailed requirements of licensing and permitting, refer Department of Health’s Tattoo Program.
