The Storage Petroleum Tank Inspection Program is designed to protect the public from risks associated with petroleum tanks.  Our main objective is to protect the drinking water aquifer and surface water bodies in the State of Florida.  This program was initiated through an agreement with the Department of Environmental Protection.  The rules that support the program are Florida Administrative Code 62-761 and Florida Administrative Code 62-762.

We perform required annual storage tank inspections on sites in seven counties that are contracted to us by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.  The counties are Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, Bay, Holmes and Washington Counties.

Inspection criteria include, but are not limited to: 

  • Annual Testing Records
  • Closure assessment for tank removals in all 5 counties
  • Environmental Releases
  • Installation and all existing upgrades
  • Leakage Inspections and detection devices
  • Maintenance Records

Facilities Inspected include, but are not limited to: 

  • Bulk Fuel Tank Storage Facilities
  • Commercial Fuel Outlets
  • Generator Facilities
  • Industrial Facilities
  • Lube and Oil Changing Facilities
  • Marinas
  • Military Bases
