According to the 2022 Florida County Rankings data, Escambia County ranked 50th out of 67 counties for premature mortality and negative health outcomes. The Florida Department of Health’s Office of Minority Health is dedicated to guiding all 67 counties in Florida to address Florida residents' barriers to attaining good health by working with government agencies and community organizations.
One solution to address issues is the establishment of cross-sector collaborations and partnerships to improve the health and well-being of Escambia County residents. Cross-sector collaborations address the impact of education, health care access and quality, economic stability, social and community context, neighborhood and built environment, and other factors influencing health.
Escambia County’s Minority Health has a representative from each program service offered at DOH-Escambia to assist the MHL in exploring opportunities to improve the quality of life by studying the data, creating action plans, and implementing actions that promote healthy lifestyles of Escambia County residents.
