Mosquito Bite Protection in Florida information sheet (717 KB; pdf)

On February, 3, 2016, State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health Dr. John Armstrong issued a Declaration of Public Health Emergency regarding the Zika virus. While Escambia County, Florida, is currently not included in the Declaration, preventing mosquitoes and mosquito bites are important actions that everyone can take to reduce their risk of mosquito-borne diseases.

Simple steps you can take to protect yourself and your family from Zika and all mosquito-borne illness include: Draining standing water, no matter how seemingly small; covering skin with mosquito repellent and protective clothing; and covering windows and doors by keeping them closed or by using screens.
