Rescind Health Alert: Bayou Texar

By DOH-Escambia

March 27, 2014

Effective immediately, in response to bacteriological sampling, the Florida Department of Health in Escambia County (DOH-Escambia) is rescinding the health alert for the following beach in Escambia County, Florida:

Bayou Texar at Bayview Park

The Florida Department of Health in Escambia County feels that the water quality in this area has improved considerably due to the reduction in bacteria levels.

A health alert remains in effect for Bayou Chico at Lakewood Park and Bayou Grande, Navy Point - North of Sunset Avenue Bridge.

The DOH-Escambia advises against any water-related activities at the above locations due to the potential for high bacteria levels. The bacteriological sampling occurred during water quality monitoring activities and the level of bacteria has exceeded the level established by state guidelines.

We will continue to monitor the water quality in these areas and advise the public of our results. For more information, contact the DOH-Escambia’s Environmental Health office at 850-595-6700 or visit www.EscambiaHealth.com.
