FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IN ESCAMBIA COUNTY RECEIVED COVID-19 SECOND DOSE VACCINE ALLOCATION
February 23, 2021
Pensacola, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health in Escambia County (FDOH-Escambia) has received its allocation of COVID-19 second dose vaccine for the weeks of February 15 and February 22, 2021. We are coordinating with community partners on distribution efforts.
Due to weather conditions delaying vaccine delivery, persons that had appointments for second dose vaccination on Feb. 18, 2021 are being rescheduled to receive their vaccine this week. Persons that have appointments for second dose vaccination this week will receive their vaccine as scheduled.
FDOH-Escambia and partner organizations have already contacted or are in the process of contacting these individuals to schedule appointments. Please do not contact the providers directly for these appointments.
Per guidance issued by the CDC, the second dose should be administered as close to the recommended interval as possible. However, if it is not feasible to adhere to the recommended interval, as with shipping delays, the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine may be scheduled for administration up to 6 weeks (42 days) after the first dose.
