Before you receive birth control through the DOH-Escambia, you will have a clinical exam by a nurse practitioner or doctor. This exam includes a pelvic and a pap test (If you are due for one) to screen for cervical cancer.
Improved Pregnancy Outcome (IPOP)
IPOP helps pregnant women access prenatal care, apply for Medicaid assistance and WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) nutrition program. The program provides screenings for potential problems and/or risks. IPOP also provides education to promote healthy behaviors during pregnancy.
The Florida Department of Health in Escambia County (DOH-Escambia) offers pelvic exams to women as part of the clinic visit. If indicated, a pap smear is included in the clinic exam before birth control is issued.
