ALERT Sanders Beach and Big Lagoon State Park

Effective immediately, in response to bacteriological sampling, the Florida Department of Health in Escambia County (FDOH-Escambia) is issuing a health alert for the following beaches in Escambia County, Florida:
Big Lagoon State Park
Sanders Beach
Health alerts remain in effect for the following beaches:
Bayou Chico at Lakewood Park
Bayou Grande, Navy Point - North of Sunset Avenue Bridge
Bayou Texar at Bayview Park
FDOH-Escambia advises against any water-related activities at the above locations due to the potential for high bacteria levels. The bacteriological sampling occurred during water quality monitoring activities and the level of bacteria has exceeded the level established by state guidelines.
We will continue to monitor the water quality in these areas and advise the public of our results.
