Health Alert Bayou Chico and Jones Swamp Creek

PENSACOLA, FL – Effective immediately, the Florida Department of Health in Escambia County (FDOH-Escambia) is issuing a health alert for the following area in Escambia County, Florida:
Bayou Chico including Jones Swamp Creek East of Old Corry Field Road
A break in the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority’s (ECUA) sewage system has occurred near 609 South Old Corry Field Road resulting in the release of raw sewage into Jones Swamp Creek.
FDOH-Escambia advises against any water-related activities at the above locations due to the potential for high bacteria levels.
We will continue to monitor the situation until the alert is rescinded.
