Open House Community Meeting for Rolling Hills

PENSACOLA, FL – The Florida Department of Health in Escambia County (FDOH-Escambia) reminds the community that an open-house public meeting will occur for the purpose of answering questions and taking public comments related to the Florida Department of Health’s preliminary health consultation report on the investigation of hydrogen sulfide gas emissions from the Rolling Hills Construction and Demolition Landfill site.

The open-house public meeting will take place on March 27, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Marie K. Young-Wedgewood Community Center, located at 6405 Wagner Road, Pensacola, Florida. Persons may attend at any time during the meeting period to ask questions and to provide comments on the preliminary health consultation report.

In 2014, FDOH-Escambia requested that FDOH public health toxicologists conduct a health consultation on hydrogen sulfide gas emissions from the Rolling Hills Landfill, located in the Wedgewood community of Escambia County, Florida. On March 3, 2015, the preliminary report of that health consultation was released for public review and comment.

The preliminary health consultation report can be reviewed on FDOH-Escambia’s website (EscambiaHealth.com), FDOH’s website (FloridaHealth.gov), and on Escambia County’s website (MyEscambia.com). Comments will not be taken through the FDOH-Escambia website or through Escambia County’s website.

Persons who are unable to attend the meeting can comment on the preliminary health consultation report by:

Comments will be reviewed and considered when completing the final report which is scheduled for release later this spring. The comment period for the preliminary report will close on April 30, 2015.
