HEALTH ADVISORY UPDATES Water Quality Health Advisory Issued for Perdido Bay South of the Bayou Marcus Creek

Pensacola, Fla. – Effective immediately, the Florida Department of Health in Escambia County is issuing a health advisory for the following area in Escambia County, Florida: 

  • Perdido Bay South of the Bayou Marcus Creek

The Emerald Coast Utilities Authority (ECUA) reports a rupture within the grounds of the Bayou Marcus Water Reclamation Facility that resulted in the release of untreated sewage into the above affected area.

The sewage release is ongoing, FDOH-Escambia advises against any water-related activities due to the potential for high bacteria levels.

We will continue to collaborate with ECUA to monitor the situation until the advisory is rescinded. For more information, contact the Florida Department of Health in Escambia County at 595-6700.
